Platform/01/Commissions and chargebacks
01 Commissions and chargebacks
Every dollar on the sheet has a rule behind it.
The carrier statement, the POS sales detail, the mobile-internet lines and the week's adjustments land in one calculator. It applies the plan, runs nine chargeback rules in priority order, pays contests into the same sheet, and locks the week. The rep sees the same net payout finance approved, line by line, on the phone.
/ Works with
01 The sheet
One sheet per rep per week.
Sortable, filterable, explained.
Boxes, activations, gross, chargebacks and net, with the trend beside the name. Hover a chargeback for the rule that produced it and a status for what it means. Managers see units and pace; dollar figures stay behind the visibility gate until the week closes.
| Rep | ID | Store | Trend | Boxes | Acts | Gross | Chargebacks | Net | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Totals | |||||||||
Sample data. Every figure on this page is invented.
02 Chargeback detection
Nine rules, one priority order,
never the same dollar twice.
Each rule looks at a different source, so the same event cannot be deducted by two of them. A chargeback that resolves within 14 days reverses itself, the rep is told when one posts, and each one can open a ticket with the evidence attached.
| Rule | What triggers it | Source | What happens |
|---|---|---|---|
| Missing rebate | The activation carries a device rebate that never appears on the carrier statement. | Carrier statement vs POS | Deducted on the sheet, dispute drafted with the invoice. |
| Short rebate | The carrier credit is smaller than the discount the store fronted. Bounded: the deduction never exceeds the fronted amount. | Carrier statement vs POS | Difference deducted, restitution posts forward if the carrier corrects it. |
| Refunded activation | A negative subtotal on the store and invoice inside the clawback window. | POS refunds | Box and payout netted; returns deduct after the carrier maximum. |
| Disqualified IMEI | The device on the activation is flagged or its IMEI history shows it never left inventory. | IMEI history | Line disqualified, activation removed from tier count. |
| 35-day retention | A ported line that drops before day 35. | Carrier retention feed | Deducted; reverses automatically if the carrier re-credits. |
| Post-dated activation | An activation the carrier moves out of the pay week it was sold in. | Post-date report | Moved to the correct week; the original sheet is not rewritten if locked. |
| MIM deactivation | A mobile-internet line deactivated inside its window. | MIM orders and carrier lines | Line carried forward or deducted per the plan. |
| MIM reconciliation | Lines produced in the POS that the carrier never paid. | MIM orders vs statement | Produced-versus-payable shown to the rep; dispute batch on Sunday. |
| MRC drift | Monthly recurring revenue on the line moves below the tier it qualified at. | Carrier MRC feed | Flagged for review before the next pay week. |
Priorities are per program and can be overridden per plan. Every override is logged and triggers a recalculation.
03 Plans, tiers and spiffs
The comp guide is data,
not a PDF in a drawer.
Comp guides per plan
The carrier's monthly comp guide is parsed into plan rows with effective dates. Rate changes apply forward from the date they take effect; a locked week is never recalculated under a newer guide.
Box tiers and MRC scope
Tier qualification on boxes, a monthly-recurring-revenue percentage scoped to MRC, accessories or both, accessory payout per dollar, and per-store accessory tier overrides for doors with a different mix.
Spiffs and promo rates
Spiff programs and promotional rates are one program with one column on the sheet, netted of returns, so a promo never pays twice under two names.
Manager and VP structures
District, area and regional managers are paid on store snapshots frozen per period. VP plans stack additive bonuses on scorecard metrics, retention and per-door accessory targets, with no base, and can remove doors from a plan on an effective date.
Overrides with a trail
Managers request an override with an impact preview; owners or finance approve. Every override leaves a log entry and recalculates the sheet. Appeals revoke it the same way.
04 Contests
Contests that pay into the sheet,
not into a side spreadsheet.
Daily rep contests, store contests with daily targets, and manager contests all evaluate from the same feeds. Prizes land in the Bonus column of the prior pay week's sheet, where chargebacks cannot consume them, and standings go to the managers' WhatsApp group.
| Lane | Qualifies | Prize | Leader | Today | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mobile internet | 10 or more MIM lines in the day | $100 each | G. Ferreira, Union City | 12 lines | Qualified |
| Home internet | Most HSI installs in the day | $25 | A. Okafor, Newark | 4 installs | Leading |
| Add-a-line | Each qualifying AAL | $10 each | M. Delgado, Jersey City | 6 | Qualified |
| Store target | Store hits its injected day target | Team bonus | Hoboken | 31 of 34 | 3 to go |
Sample standings. Evaluated nightly, frozen at period end, paid through the commission pipeline.
05 Lock, approve and carry forward
The week closes once.
Corrections move forward.
- 01Import
Carrier statement, POS sales detail and MIM orders stream in with multi-field dedup keys. A store master change refreshes the current month's reports.
- 02Calculate
Tiers, MRC, spiffs, operational chargebacks and contest bonuses computed once per rep per week and written to the sheet.
- 03Approve
Each market approves its own reps. The payout visibility gate hides dollar figures from managers until the week closes.
- 04Lock
The whole week locks. No retroactive edit at the service layer, not just in the screen.
- 05Carry forward
Anything that lands after the lock posts to the next open week, inheriting the original approver. Nothing rewrites history.
Ledgers
Negative weeks carry over. Deductions against an earner are a ledger, not an edit. Scheduled future pays apply themselves hourly when their date arrives.
Parity, everywhere
The net payout is computed once and shown everywhere from that one number. The commission detail page, the employee's app and the payroll run never recompute it from a subset.
06 Carrier reconciliation
What we expected against
what the carrier paid.
Every statement line is matched to our expected payout, built from the same rules as the rep sheet. Deltas become disputes with the line-level evidence attached. Seven pages cover it: by market, by store, lines, chargebacks, disputes, guides and an AI weekly summary.
| Rep | ID | Week | Expected | Carrier paid | Delta | Status |
|---|
Sample data. Reps are paid on our number; a lost dispute posts forward.
07 What each role sees
Rep
Current and past weeks in the app, each line with its rule, chargebacks with a dispute button, contest standings, pay stub to sign.
Manager
Team commissions and pace without dollar figures until the week closes, override requests with impact preview, contest matrix.
Finance
Market approvals, the lock, the ledgers, carrier reconciliation and disputes, comp guide import, payout export to payroll.
